Wild Forest Reindeer

The wild forest reindeer ( Rangifer tarandus fennicus) is the speciality of Kuhmo area. The only wild forest reindeer can be found in Finland, some 2 000 individuals in total. In the Kuhmo area, there are some 900 individuals.

The wild forest reindeer can be photographed the year round. This wild animal looks the most gorgeous in the autumn when the females are in heat.
